2 years down, and we’re still just getting started3 min read
It seems like only yesterday we at OpenNode released the original beta version of our platform, and two years on we have so much success to celebrate. We’ve grown faster and learned more than we could have ever predicted during our hard-fought journey; and our work to advance Bitcoin adoption around the world goes on.
Let’s face it, this year has been rough. No doubt 2020 will go down as one of the most difficult years in history. With social and economic turmoil across the world, many businesses have been forced to shut down indefinitely.
OpenNode has faced its own challenges in this environment, but we’re happy to report we’ve weathered the storm. Each accomplishment along the way continues to drive tremendous momentum.
New Bitcoin Payment Capabilities
We’ll say it again, 2020 was a hell of a year. Our small team went remote due to Covid, but with adjustments in our working practices, we remained highly productive. Over the course of the year, we’ve launched a ton of new features and upgrades to our platform and we’re pleased to share that every single one came from suggestions by the community.
Merchants accept card payments and receive Bitcoin. Together we bridge traditional payments and Bitcoin.
A simple way to disburse payments. Fund with cash, complete with Bitcoin.

Exciting things ahead…
It has been a long and strange year, but we kept our heads down and just kept building. We’ve got a lot of new things in the works and we’re really excited to share the news with you in the coming months. Everything from new capabilities to newly supported currencies and e-commerce integrations…and that’s barely scratching the surface.
We’re still a young team but we’re proud of how far we’ve gotten since the launch of our public beta 2 years ago, and we’re extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from the beginning.
As OpenNode and Bitcoin continue to grow, and the Lightning Network matures, we plan to bring on new team members to help us execute our mission to drive Bitcoin adoption.
In the coming months, be on the lookout for additional details on open roles. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you. If you believe in the power and promise of Bitcoin and the Lighting Network and can contribute to building the future of payments, send us DM on Twitter or an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to get back to everyone, but we’ll do our best.
Peace & Love
