Merkle Root
The Merkle root can be thought of as the fingerprint of a block. More technically, it is a hash of hashes. It is a way to quickly reference all the transactions within a given block without knowing each the details of each transaction itself. The Merkle root is a part of the block header.
The Merkle root is the top level hash of the Merkle tree.
