Sub-Satoshi Payments
It is theoretically possible to make payments on the Lightning Network that are smaller than the smallest denomination of Bitcoin, the satoshi. These Sub-Satoshi payments are probabilistic, based on random or pseudo-random computations. For example, if Alice pays Bob 0.1 satoshi, she is really paying Bob a 1 satoshi payment with 10-to-1 odds of completing. This means that 90% of the time, the satoshi won’t be sent, but 10% of the time it will send 1 satoshi.
